
CSK falls 2 Runs short against RCB after the Fastest Half Centurty of the Season by Romario Shepherd
At the Return match, RCB is taking on Super Kings at their home ground in Bengaluru. CSK won the toss and asked RCB to bat. Kohli and Bethell opened the innings, and both were in such great form that they both took on the Super King’s bowler head-on. It was a 97-run stand between the opening pair in 10 overs when Bethell got out. After 24 runs, Kohli got out after scoring his fourth straight half-century.
CSK bowlers tightened the noose and did not let the Challengers score freely. Pathirana picked up 3 wickets. Romario Shepherd came to bat after Captain Patidar got out at 157 for 5 in 17.4 overs. With just 14 balls left in the innings, Shepherd came up with the unbelievable fastest half-century of the season in just 14 balls. Shepherd scored 6 sixes and 4 fours to take RCB to 213 in 20 overs.
CSK Done and Dusted
CSK had a tough task ahead. 51 run stand between youngsters, Mhatre and Rasheed put some hope in CSk stand. Rasheed got out in the 6th over. Jadeja came to bat after Sam Curran got out. Jadeja had a different plan. Jadeja took on every bowler and, with luck on his side, scored 77 from 45 balls.
In meantime 17 year youngster Ayush Mhatre scored his first IPL half century and went on to 94 , just one short of his maiden century but was caught by Krunal off Ngidi. In next ball Brevis was adjudged leg before and was unlucky as he couldnt take riview also because of technical error , none the less he was out. Dhoni joined but , from here CSK was not able to score boundary. Last over CSK needed 14 runs to win. Dayal ensured that CSK is 2 run short and RCB win by 2 runs.
14 ball, 53 runs from RShepherd was the turning point for RCB and Dhoni faced 8 balls to get only 12 runs, which led CSK to lose one more game. Shepherd was declared Player of the Match.
