In Men’s Quarterfinal Indian Hockey team played against Great Britain and Sreejesh was at its prime as Wall in front of Goal post. First quarter was goal less. In second quarter India scored on penalty corner in 22nd minute. Great Britain came strongly to level the score in 27th minute. Other two quarter were paced at high speed. India’s Ravidas was out with red Card. India literally played last quarter with 10 men only. Match ended 1-1 at stipulated time. Match went into shoot out
In shoot out Albery scored first goal for Britain, Harmanpreet leveled 1-1, Wallace scored to make it 2-1 for Britain. Sukhjeetleveled it to 2-2, Williamson missed and Upadhyay scored to make it 3-2 in favor of India. Roper’s shot was saved by Sreejesh , now India had advantage and Rajkumar Pal scored to see India make it to second consecutive Semifinal in Hockey at Olympic with 4-2 in shoot out.
Badminton
Lakshya Sen played against reigning Olympic Champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the Semifinal. Lakshaya had three Game points in first game but lost 20-22. In the second game Lakshaya started with bang and one time he was 7-0 but finally the game and match was handed over to Akelsen by 20-22, 14-21. Lakshaya will play for Bronze tomorrow.

Women’s 75Kg – Lovlina Borgohain lost in the quarterfinal against Li Qian of China with 1-4 decision in the favor of Chinese. India’s quest for medal in Boxing has ended.

Women’s 3000m Steeplechase Round 1 – Parul Chaudhary clocked season’s best 9:23.39 to finish at 8th position. Could not qualify for final .
