RCB, captained by Rajat Patidar for the first time, won the toss and decided to chase. Ajinkya Rahane’s captaining for the first time, was put to bat. De cock was caught behind and KKR were one down, then came captain Ajinkya and steered innings with Sunil Narayan. Both put on a hundred-run partnership. At 107, Narayan was caught behind and followed by Rahane, and KKR could manage only 174 for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Krunal picked up 3 wickets.
RCB started the chase at Eden Gardens with Salt and Kohli to start the chase. Kohli at his sublime form. opening stand put on 95 runs when Phil Salt was caught behind by Varun Chakravarthy. Kohli, with 59 in 36 balls, crossed the line with a loss of 3 wickets. RCB won the inaugural match by 7 wickets
