
Five Indian states went through Legislative Assembly Election in the month of November 2023 to choose the State Government for next five years. Bharatiya Janta Party and Indian National Congress are the two National Poitical Party which were contesting election along with regional Party to form the next State Government. The Five States are Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram. The Three States are in the North, One State is in South and one in the North East.
Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election

Overview:
Madhya Pradesh conducted its Legislative Assembly election on November 17, 2023. This election aimed to elect all 230 members for the next five-year government term. The tenure of the present Government is scheduled to be over by 06 January 2024.
Background:
In the 2018 election, the Indian National Congress formed the government under Kamalnath’s leadership. However, a significant shift occurred in March 2020 when Jyotiraditya Scindia and 22 Congress MLAs defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), resulting in Shivraj Singh Chauhan becoming the Chief Minister.
Election Result: 116 seats to form the Govt.

- INC obtained 66 seats with a 40.45% vote share, down from 114 seats in the previous election.

Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Election

Overview:
Rajasthan held its election for 199 out of 200 assembly seats on November 25, 2023, aiming to form the government for the next term. The tenure of present Legislative Assembly is scheduled to be over by 14 January 2024.
Background:
Ashok Gehlot of INC led the state government until the election. The result was declared on December 3, 2023.
Election Result: 101 Seats to form the Govt.

- INC obtained 69 seats with a 39.53% vote share, down from 100 seats previously.

Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Election

Overview:
Election Commission conducted elections for all 90 Assembly seats of Chhatisgarh in two phases on November 7 and 17, 2023. The tenure of the present Government is scheduled to be over by 03 January 2024.
Background:
INC’s Bhupesh Baghel served as the Chief Minister for the previous five years. The counting and declaration of the result was done on 03 December 2023. The BJP gained an absolute majority and is set to form the next government.

Telangana Legislative Assembly Election

Overview:
Election Commission conducted election in Telangana for all 119 legislative seats on 30 November 2023, aiming to form the subsequent government. The tenure of present Government is scheduled to be over by 16 January 2024.
Background:
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (later renamed Bhartiya Rashtra Samiti) led the government with K. Chandrashekhar Rao as Chief Minister. The counting and result was declared on 03 December 2023. The Indian National Congress has emerged as the winner with a majority to form the new government.

Mizoram Legislative Assembly Election

Overview:
Mizoram held its Legislative Assembly election on November 7, 2023, to choose representatives for all 40 seats. The tenure of the present Government is scheduled to be over by 17 December 2023.
Background:
Zoramthanga from the Mizo National Front served as the Chief Minister since 2018. The counting of the votes occurred on 04 December 2023. Zoram People’s Movement secured 27 seats to form the next Government.
