Rain plays spoilsport at Hyderabad, where DC survived to share one point, and at Wankhede, GT managed in the 19th over in DLS to defeat MI.
In the 56th match of the tournament at Wankhede, MI took on GT. GT won the toss and decided to field first. MI started to build their innings, but both the openers went back to the dugout very cheaply in the first four overs. Rickelton was first to go on the second ball of the innings. Surya Kumar Yadav and Will Jacks played sensibly and both added 71 runs to get 97 runs when Surya got out off the bowling of Kishore.
In the next over Jacks got out with a score of 103 for the loss of 4 wickets and the Captain came to the crease and got out at 106. MI were in a hurry and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. At the end of 20 overs MI had 155 runs with a loss of 8 wickets. GT bowlers bowled well and all six bowlers picked up a wicket.
GT set to chase 155 runs lost Sudharsan in the second over. Gill and Butler played sensibly and added 72 runs together when Butler was caught behind at 78. It was the turn of GT, and they lost a wicket at a regular interval. Buttler followed by Gill and then Rutherford. GT needed 24 runs in the last 12 balls, and the rain stopped the play once again.
DLS par score is 137, and GT is at 132, so MI is ahead by 5 runs if there is no further play. So, it was decided that the match will finish by 0025 hrs. 15 minutes more to GT if rain stops. Finally, it was decided that one over would be bowled and the new target was 147 to win. So GT needed 15 runs for one over to get 2 points.

Deepak Chahar to bowl the 19th, which will be the last over. Rahul Tewatia was on strike. The first ball was sent over for four. Next ball, Tewatia picked up 1 run, now 10 to get from four balls. Third ball Chahar missed the Yorker and Gerald Coetzee sent it over long off for a six-run.
Now the equation was very simple in favor of GT with 4 to get in 3 balls. Next ball no ball, and Coetzee picked up 1 run, so balls remain the same to get 2 runs from 3 balls. Fourth ball fetched 1 run, and the scores were level. The fifth ball saw Coetzee caught by Naman. Still 1 run required from the last ball to win the match. Last ball, Arshad pushed it in front of mid-off and ran for one run. Hardik misses the stump, and GT won the match by 3 wickets.
Shubhman was declared Player of the Match for his 43 from 46 balls and captaincy.
