Sri Lanka’s Uphill Battle in front of Indian Seamer
Sri Lanka faced a daunting task to chase down the target set by India. Their innings got off to a nightmarish start as Nissanka was dismissed leg-before-wicket by Bumrah on the very first ball. Siraj, in his first over, picked up his first wicket and went on to claim his second wicket on the fifth ball of the same over. Sri Lanka was reeling at 2 for 3 wickets. Mohammed Shami’s exceptional performance earned him five wickets for 18 runs and made him the highest wicket-taker for India in the World Cup, surpassing Javagal Srinath and Zaheer Khan’s record of 44 wickets.

Mohammed Shami was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant seam bowling performance. India secured a resounding victory, defeating Sri Lanka by 302 runs and reclaimed their position at the top of the table.
