Day 7 of the Asian Games 2023 had a thrilling win as team india commenced with the familiar intensity of Shooting, a discipline that has set the tone for the past six days. The Mixed Double Shooting team of Sarabjot Singh and Divya TS came achingly close to clinching Gold, missing it by a mere 0.4 points in the final series. India settled for Silver, launching the day’s events.

Following this was a riveting lineup of Tennis, Squash, Table Tennis, and Badminton, all featuring exciting matches with rackets in play. The day kicked off with the exhilarating Mixed Doubles Tennis final. Team India, led by Rutuja Bhosale and the seasoned 43-year-old Rohan Bopanna, faced off against the Chinese Taipei pair. After conceding the first set, the Indian duo rallied back fiercely in the second. In the tiebreaker, they reached 10 crucial points, and had a thrilling win securing the coveted Gold for India.

The Squash final against Pakistan was a nail-biting affair, with Indian veteran Ghosal leveling the match in the second game. With the score tied, the fate of the match rested on the third game, where Abhay Singh faced off against Noor Zaman. Abhay Singh, on the verge of defeat, showcased incredible resilience, saving two match points and ultimately clinching a thrilling win. This triumph not only secured Gold for India but also avenged a previous pool match defeat at the hand of Pakistan.


A historic moment unfolded in Table Tennis as the Mukherjee duo achieved an unexpected and extraordinary victory over the Olympic Champion Chinese pair on their home turf. The Indian girls with a thrilling win created history, ensuring a medal by reaching the Women’s Doubles Semifinals, an achievement never before attained.



The excitement continued with the Indian Badminton team securing a spot in the Team event Final through thrilling performances by Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, and Kidambi against their opponents from Korea. Despite losing both the doubles matches, Kidambi’s thrilling win propelled India to a 3-2 win, securing a place in the Men’s Team Badminton Final and guaranteeing another medal.

In Athletics, surprises unfolded as Indian runners Karthik Kumar and Gulveer Singh clinched Silver and Bronze, respectively, in the 10,000m race. Their remarkable performance saw them surge ahead in the last 300m, securing the medals. Long jumper Murali, Jeswin, and hurdler Jyothi also progressed to the event finals.

In Boxing, Lovlina Borghain with a thrilling win breezed into the Semifinals, joined by Narender Berwal in the Men’s +92 kg category and Preeti Pawar, who also advanced to the Semifinals.

In Golf, Aditi held her ground at the top of the leaderboard with one round to go. Despite the team slipping to the eighth position, there’s still one more round to make an impact.

As the day concluded, the Indian Men’s Hockey team continued its winning streak, dominating Pakistan in a one-sided match with a thrilling 10-2 margin, reaffirming India’s prowess on the hockey field.
