1. India’s First Index of Services Production (ISP): The National Statistical Office (NSO) under MoSPI launched the trial Index of Services Production (ISP).
Importance:
- India’s first monthly indicator to measure the formal services sector.
- Base Year: 2024–25
- Covers key sectors such as trade, transport, communication and other services, complementing the Index of Industrial Production (IIP).
2. Semicon 2.0 Approved: The Union Cabinet approved Semicon 2.0 with an outlay of ₹1.275 lakh crore to strengthen India’s semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem.
3. Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS): The Cabinet approved the ₹62,500 crore Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) to promote domestic manufacturing, value addition and exports.
4. National Investment Policy for Urea (NIPU-2026): The Cabinet approved NIPU-2026 to encourage investment in gas-based urea plants and reduce dependence on fertiliser imports.
