1. High-Powered Task Force on Examination Reforms: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a high-powered task force headed by Nandan Nilekani to strengthen the credibility, transparency and technological security of India’s examination system.
Exam Focus: The task force will recommend systemic and technology-based reforms to prevent paper leaks and other examination malpractices.
2. Public Examinations Amendment Bill, 2026: The government is introducing the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha.
Key Focus: Stronger criminal penalties, including stringent action against organised syndicates involved in paper leaks and examination fraud. The reform push follows nationwide concern over competitive-examination irregularities.

1. Sarnath Joins UNESCO World Heritage List: Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List during the 48th World Heritage Committee session in Busan, South Korea. Sarnath is where Buddha delivered his first sermon (Dharmachakra Pravartana). Major remains include Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa and Ashokan Lion Capital.
2. India Invites Bangladesh to BRICS Summit 2026: India invited Bangladesh as a special guest for the 2026 BRICS Summit, reflecting India’s emphasis on neighbourhood diplomacy and greater representation of the Global South.
3. Black Sea Security & Indian Seafarers: The MEA advised Indian nationals considering employment aboard commercial vessels operating in the Black Sea to carefully assess security risks. India is also monitoring developments after cargo vessel MV AGN Ragnar was struck at Ukraine’s Odesa port.
4. Strait of Hormuz Crisis: An oil tanker reportedly struck a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting continuing risks in one of the world’s most important energy corridors. Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman/Arabian Sea. Disruption can raise crude prices, freight rates and India’s energy import costs.
5. Four New UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Four international sites were added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List:
D-Day Landing Beaches (France), Mount Olympus (Greece), Asuka-Fujiwara sites (Japan), and Boma-Badingilo Migratory Landscape (South Sudan).

2. PRALAY Missile Launcher Upgrade: DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI) issued an RFP for modification and refurbishment of the 8×8 PRAHAR launcher to integrate a complete communication suite for PRALAY missile launch operations.

2. PM Surya Ghar Progress in Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation synchronised 50,114 rooftop solar systems, totalling around 180 MW, with the grid under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
