“G20 Summit in New Delhi: Historic Inclusion of African Union Elevates Group to G21”

The G20 Summit commenced in New Delhi, Bharat, with Prime Minister Narendra Damodar Das Modi extending a warm welcome to leaders from the G20 nations. A significant development during the summit was the induction of the African Union as a permanent member of the G20, effectively transforming it into the G21. India had actively advocated for this inclusion, recognizing the importance of addressing such a substantial part of the world’s population.

With unanimous agreement reached, the African Union now holds a permanent seat at the G20 table. The summit’s inaugural session, centered on the theme of “One Earth,” began at the state-of-the-art Bharat Mandapan, where Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the 21st century, asserting that no one should be left behind.
