Technical Entry:

    • Engineering degree in specified branches (Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, etc.)
    • OR
    • Three-year diploma course
  • Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level
  • Medical Standards:
    • Height: Minimum 157 cm

    • Chest expansion: 5 cm
    • Eyesight: 6/36 uncorrected, correctable to 6/6 with glasses

Law Entry:

  • Age: 21-30 years (relaxation for SC/ST, CG personnel, and OBC)
  • Education:
    • Three-year law degree after graduation
    • OR
    • Five-year law degree after 10+2
  • Medical Standards:
    • Height: Male – 157 cm, Female – 152 cm
    • Weight: As per table with 10% variation
    • Chest expansion: 5 cm
    • Eyesight: 6/60 uncorrected, correctable to 6/6 or 6/12 with glasses

Selection Procedure:

The selection process for officers comprises four stages:

  1. Online Examination: This computer-based test covers English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science & Mathematical Aptitude, and General Knowledge. Minimum cut-off marks apply.
  2. Preliminary Selection Board: Qualified candidates undergo a series of assessments, including interview, psychological tests, and physical fitness tests.
  3. Final Selection Board: Shortlisted candidates are assessed through interviews and medical examination.
  4. Final Merit List and Induction: Successful candidates are inducted into the Indian Coast Guard and undergo training at the Indian Naval Academy.

Recruitment notices are published twice a year, typically in January/February (examination in June) and June/July (examination in December).

Stage -1 – an online examination is conducted in following subject . Candidates are required to pass and attain cut off marks .

Cut off marks for General and OBC for each subject  is 50 where as for SC and ST it is 45 marks
