
Punjab Kings Clinches Qualifier-2 with Captain Shreyas Iyer’s Masterclass 87 Not out. S Iyer is the only Captain to take three franchises Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and now Punjab Kings, into the IPL Final
In all important matches of the qualifying stage, today’s match will decide the team to be part of the Final Showdown on 3rd June. Ahmedabad was raining and the start got delayed by two hours, and it began at 0945pm. Even after the delay match was of 20 overs each.
Punjab Kings had won the toss and decided to field first. So match started with the opening pair of Rohit and Bairstow. Rohit once again had luck with him but could not capitalise this time and was caught out. Tilak joined the crease and added 61 runs together when Bairstow got out. Surya came at number 4 and added another 72 runs together. MI were going well with 142 in 14 overs. Surya and Tilak got out at the score of 142, and Punjab just put a break on the scoring of MI. MI finally scored 203 runs, and at Ahmedabad, it was just a Par score.
Punjab Kings, with their opening partner of Priyansh and Prabhsimran, started the innings and lost Prabhsimran at the score of 13, caught by Topley off Boult. Inglis came at No. 3 and added another 42 runs to lose Priyansh Arya. Iyer came at No. 4 and started building the innings, but lost Ingis at the total score of 72 in 8 overs. Wadhera and Iyer added 84 runs for the fourth wicket and took the score to 156 runs in 15.4 overs when Wadhera got out after scoring 48 from 29 balls.
Punjab Kings played like Champion
Punjab lost its 5th wicket at 169 runs at 16.4 overs. Punjab Kings still needed 35 runs to win from 20 balls. The match was equally poised for both teams, but Shreyas had a different plan and ensured that Punjab Kings did not play the last over and crossed the target with a sixer on the last ball of the 19th over.
Punjab Kings is in the Playoffs after 2011 and now in the final with an eye on the Trophy. Neither team in the final has won the Championship. So on 3rd Jun IPL will definitely find a new Champion.
Shreyas Iyer played an unforgettable knock of an unbeaten 87 to take Punjab Kings in the IPL final and was adjudged the Player of the Match.

Sai Sudharsan’s Orange Cap is confirmed as MI is out of the next match. But Surya Kumar Yadav was so consistent throughout the tournament. Now it is only Kohli who can surpass, but the gap is too much fro T-20 match.
