Bumrah’s brilliance and Rohit’s 81 led Mumbai Indians to win the Eliminator and move to play Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings. Mumbai Indians will be eyeing another IPL Final whereas Punjab Kings will be eyeing their another IPL final.

Rohit opened with his new partner Bairstow and had a good start, with luck and bad catching practice by the Gujarat Titans. The opening stand of 84 runs in just 7.2 overs when Bairstow was caught by Coetzee off Sai Kishore. Bairstow had 47 from 22 balls. Surya Kumar Yadav joined Rohit, and both added 59 runs for the second wicket. Surya Kumar Yadav added 33 runs from 20 balls.

Tilak joined Rohit for the third wicket and added 43 runs when Rohit got out after scoring 81 runs from 50 balls. Hardik had 22 runs from 9 balls, and Tilak had a cameo of 25 runs from 11 balls . Titans had a bad day on the field and MI accumulated 228 runs from 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians Eying for Record IPL Championship

Titans started the chase and lost Captain Shubhman in the first over. Kushal Mendis joined Sudharsan had good partnership of 64 runs when Kusal got out after scoring 20 runs form 10 balls. Washington Sundar with Sudarshan took the total to 151 runs by 13.4 runs. Titans were very much in the game but from here Mumbai Indians tighten the noose and good spell from Bumrah and Boult did not let Titans to score freely. In last over Titans needed 24 runs but could just add 5 runs and finally lost by 20 runs.

Mumbai Indians won the match by 20 runs to play Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings. Rohit Sharma was declared Player of the match for his 81 runs from 50 balls. Qualifier 2 will be played on June 1.

Two matches left to play in this season, and Sudharsan is the current holder of the Orange cap. Surya Kumar Yadav is 86 runs behind the leader, and Virat Kohli, left with one match, is 145 runs behind the leader, so least likely to overtake. So, if Mumbai Indians wins qualifier 2 then SKY will get two innings to surpass the target of 759 runs to get the Orange Cap.

Prasidh Krishna is back on top with 25 wickets to be in possession of the Purple Cap. Jose Hazlewood, with 21 wickets, will have to get 5 wickets in the final to surpass Prasidh. Trent Boult has a fair chance if Mumbai Indians reach the final will get two innings to get 5 wickets to be on top in the race for the Purple cap. So with all probability, Prasidh is way ahead in claiming the Purple Cap.
