1. Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2026 Notified: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) notified the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2026 to strengthen monitoring of foreign funds received by NGOs.
Key Amendments
- NGOs must specify the exact State/UT where foreign funds will be used.
- The definition of Key Functionary now includes trustees, partners and Kartas of Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs).
- Organisations must disclose all their official social media accounts during registration and renewal.
- Misuse or diversion of foreign funds will attract a penalty of ₹1 lakh or 30% of the diverted amount, whichever is higher.
2. Amazon Announces Major Investment in India: Amazon announced an investment plan worth 48 billion US dollars in India.
Key Highlights
- Around 13 billion US dollars will be invested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) will expand its data centres in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
- More than 100 new last-mile delivery stations will be established to strengthen logistics.
3. Bharat Taxi Launched: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched Bharat Taxi in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

4. Punjab Notifies VB-G RAM G Scheme: Punjab notified the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Scheme, 2026, effective from 1 July 2026.

- Replaces the earlier MGNREGA framework in the state.
- Provides 125 days of guaranteed employment to eligible rural households willing to undertake unskilled manual work.
