
Day 10 of the Asian Games brought unexpected excitement in the world of sports for India. The men’s 1000m Canoe sprint saw a surprising start as the team of Arjun Singh and Sunil Singh Salam clinched the Bronze Glory at the event. finishing with a commendable time of 3:53.329. This achievement marked a return to the podium after 28 years, the last one being in the 1994 Hiroshima Asian Games.
In the boxing arena, Lovlina Borgohain, the reigning world champion, powered her way into the finals and is set to contend for the coveted Gold. However Bronze glory continued for Preeti Pawar who faced a tough opponent in the 54kg weight category, the defending champion Chan Yuan of China, and despite her best efforts, she secured a Bronze glory for India. Narender Berwal fought valiantly in his semifinal bout, guaranteeing a Bronze for the country and securing an Olympic quota.
Over in athletics, Bronze Glory from Vithya Ramraj the women’s 400m Hurdles final, clinching the Bronze Medal with an impressive time of 55.68 seconds. Earlier, in the heats, she equaled PT Usha’s national record. In the men’s 800m, India’s Mohammed Afsal Pullikkalakath exhibited exceptional performance, securing a Silver medal with a time of 1:48.43, while Krishnan Kumar finished strong in fifth position at 1:48.80.

In the 5000m final, Parul Chaudhary surprised everyone by clinching the event with a time of 15:14.75, overtaking Japanese Ririka Hironaka in the last 20 meters. Ankita also put up a commendable performance, finishing fifth with her personal best time of 15:33.03.
In the Decathlon, Tejaswin Shankar displayed unwavering determination, surpassing the previous Indian men’s decathlon score and earning a Silver medal for the country.

The men’s Triple Jump saw Bronze glory for Praveen Chitharavel making an impressive mark, jumping 16.68m and winning the Bronze medal in his first Asian Games appearance. Another Indian jumper, Abdulla Aboobacker, narrowly missed the podium, securing fourth place with a jump of 16.62m.

Annu Rani shone in the Women’s javelin throw, bagging the Gold medal with a remarkable throw of 62.92m, marking her season’s best performance. First ever Gold in Women’s Javelin for India.
In the Men’s Cricket quarterfinal, India showcased their dominance by defeating Nepal. Yashaswi’s brilliant century powered India to score 202 runs. Rinku Singh’s quick 37 runs from 15 balls were crucial in reaching a defendable target. The bowlers, Bishnoi and Avesh, were outstanding, picking up 3 wickets each, leading India to victory by 23 runs.
On the hockey turf, the Indian Women’s Hockey team exhibited their prowess, overpowering Hong Kong China with an impressive 13-0 scoreline, securing the top position in the pool.
In Archery, two Indian athletes, Ojas and Abhishek, will compete for Gold in the Men’s Compound final. Jyoti Surekha Vennam defeated Aditi Swami in the Compound semis with a score of 149-146, earning her a spot in the final, while Aditi will strive for the Bronze.
In Squash, Dipika-Harinder in mixed doubles, Anhat-Abhay in mixed doubles, and Saurav Ghosal in the men’s singles have ensured at least a medal in their respective events.
In Kabaddi, the Indian women’s team displayed dominance, defeating the Republic of Korea with a commanding score of 56-23. The men’s Kabaddi team also had a strong start with a victory against their opponent.
