
CSK eliminated from the race for the playoffs in the 18th Season of IPL.
In a crucial encounter of CSK with Punjab Kings at Chepauk, CSK had to win tos tay in the hope of making the impossible task of winning all the matches from here to be in Playoffs. PBKS won the toss and asked home team to bat.

CSK once again had a poor Powerplay with losing 3 wickets with a score of 48 runs. Sam Curran was joined by Brevis and took the score to 126 in 14 overs. Brevis got out after a good knock of 36 on the first ball after the break. It was only Curran who kept on scoring, and he scored 88 runs from 47 balls. Chahal was brought on in the 19th over with his 3rd over, and he picked up Dhoni and a hat-trick with 4 wickets in the over. CSK was at least 20 runs short of what could have been a good score. CSK finally got out in 19.2 overs with 190 runs on board
Punjab Kings had a good opening partnership of 44 in 5 overs when Arya was out after scoring 23 runs from 15 balls. Iyer and Prabhasimran added 72 runs together when the opener went to the dugout after scoring a well-crafted 54 from 36 balls. Captain Iyer played a captain’s knock and scored 188 when he got out after scoring 72 runs. left with 3 runs to get from 8 balls, which Punjab Kings got in the 20th over,
Punjab Kings won the match by 4 wickets to move to second place in the points table. Captain S Iyer was declared Player of the Match

In the IPL points table, Punjab Kings, with its Chepauk win, has moved to second spot with a very much in contention of Playoffs. CSK is definitely out of the race for the Playoffs. RCB is on top, and the other six teams are very much in the race with permutations and combinations. So, 7 teams are very much in contention for the playoffs. All these teams are looking strong. It is CSK and SRH who are not performing as they should have.
